FAQs

Q. 1 : How long has FMO Painting been in business?
Answer
FMO Painting has provided painting and wall covering services since establishment in 1996. With over a decade of proven industry experience and utilizing the most up-to-date equipment, you can be sure every painting and wall covering project will be completed with the highest level of quality.

Q. 2 : What is the scope of what FMO painting can do?
Answer
Painting, Pressure Washing, Seal Coating and Line Striping. For over a decade FMO has been serving the Lehigh Valley. There are no jobs too small or large that our organization cannot handle.

Q. 3 : What is the optimal temperature to paint outside?
Answer
Until a few years ago, painting needed to done when temperatures were going to be above 50 degrees Fahrenheit. However, with advances made in waterborne technologies, paint products can be applied when temperatures are as low as 35º F.  Please note that surface, air and product temperatures must be at or above 35º F and that environmental conditions during and after painting need to be considered.  Stable conditions and temperatures above 35º F are needed early in the paint’s drying schedule. The first 48 hours could be critical to successful drying.

Q. 4 : I have a long hallway that needs to be painted. I am worried about coating with a high-gloss product because this may show some of the imperfections. What do you recommend?
Answer
Some will use an medium sheen, such as our Egg-Shell or Satin finishes. These will offer improved wash-ability as compared to a flat finish while not developing as high a sheen as semi-gloss products.  Another option, if you prefer a low or flat finish, is Duration Home®.  This product comes in either flat, stain or semi gloss, but offers stain resistance in all sheen levels. Your neighborhood Sherwin-Williams store can provide you with more details on this product.

Q. 5 : If I miscalculate and need to buy more paint later, will the color match exactly?
Answer
While every effort is made to ensure uniformity of color, the fact remains that paint products, tint products, and even tinting equipment, all operate within specified tolerance levels. This means that there is a possibility that cans of paint bought at different times may not match exactly.

Q. 6 : How can I clean a surface with mildew in preparation for a fresh paint job?
Answer
There are various cleaners on the market that are specifically designed from the removal of Mildew. Many of these work quite well, however, a bleach and water solution will also work.

However the best method is achieved through power washing. FMO Painting can handle all of your power washing needs, no matter how large.

Q. 7 : How do I wash my freshly painted wall?
Answer
To assure maximum wash-ability and durability, wait at least two weeks before washing the dry paint film. Avoid any abrasive or harsh chemical cleaners as these could damage the paint film. Any non abrasive premixed or concentrated cleaner will do the job.
